I sign this because I feel more uncertain about me and my family with this new act. I recently got the PhD opportunity after completing my master in Örebro University.I was awarded a Global Swede as well.It helps to attract more international students to Swden. However it has become more harder for me and my family to get permanent residency to settle here after spending about 7 years in Sweden. So I would be more grateful to relevant authorities if you could take necessary actions to reverse the act and introduce the previous act.

Thank you.

I am at the end of my 4th year. I came to Sweden specifically because I trusted the Law that allows Ph.D. students to get PR after 4 years. The migration office requirement is making this impossible now.

Completely against the new Aliens Act and the new requirements for permanent residence permits, which affect non-EU postgraduate students/researchers. Since the short-term nature of employment in academia is a fact, adapt the migration law accordingly and be fair.

I am a medical doctor. I have come to Sweden in 2017 as a fee-paying master's student. I had 4 other offer letters at that time, but I always wanted to come and study in Sweden.
After completing the master's in June 2019, I started my PhD. I intend to live and work in Sweden. I have been learning the language at an advanced level. This abrupt change in rules appears particularly adverse to PhD students who strive and flourish within the academia in Sweden. I want this change to be reverted.

The new Alien Act deprives me, as PhD students, of future career possibilities in Sweden, since as it is written in the petition, after PhD I will probably get a short-term contract.

I sign because I believe the new strict rules will lead to losses for both Sweden (with highly skilled labor force leaving the country) and the research community (with researchers and students not getting the right to reside and work in the country after years of hard work and just being tossed away).

I will be affected by this change. It is a much frustrating and depressing feeling. As a PhD student in KTH I have heavy teaching duties during the term. Every knowledge we pass over and every new idea we create will benefit Sweden for centuries if not years. And now I start to think if I am wrong and from the perspective of this country we are disposable and unimportant indeed.

I chose KTH over other programmes in the Europe mostly for the better migration policy. And now I have a feeling of betrayal. They introduced the generous PR policy to attract the PhDs since 2014. And now only those admitted from 2014-2016 can benefit from it according to their change of the alien law. In the meanwhile those PhDs admitted from 2017-2021 can be barely possible to get a PR, especially for those who want to continue their academic career in Sweden. But we did believe in the promise that this country would give us the PR easily when accepting our offer. Did non EU PhD do anything wrong in this country since 2014-2016 that the parliament decided to punish us like this, depriving the security and destroying our life plan?

Sure non-EU PhDs are minorities of Sweden, and people have their own reasons not to care about us and to take a blind eye. Did I make the right decision when accepting the offer from Sweden? I am so tired and have no energy to think further.

I am incoming phd student who will not finish (not even start) research if residence not guaranteed. I prefer to do it in another country which gives me fair future considering my contribution in science and taxes payed. Phd's salary after taxes is almost same as refugees pension with addituonal privileges - so I believe my work should be valued more.

Having completed a PhD in Sweden means that Sweden can enjoy the professional ability that these people can provide. It should be self-evident also from a human reason.
