Blind cats can have as good a quality of life as a cat with sight. There are hundreds of examples where blind cats have adapted so well by using their vision, smell, and learning their environment to navigate. Please, let Kelly be another example that blind cats deserve to live in a loving environment.

I sponsored a blind cat nearly all the years of his life and was with him when he finally died. A friend of mine had adopted him from a shelter, and due to my monthly sponsorship I was able to visit him often. To see how comfortable he was in his home and how he made friends with another seeing but handicapped cat was truly amazing. In no time at all he had learned to find his way around the house, and would follow the sound of your voice when you visited and wanted some lap time with him. Benjamin was a dear cat and I was proud to help support him all this life. I make this plea for this kitten to say that all life is precious, and that merely being blind should NOT be a cause of death for animal who would otherwise life out their life in a caring home where they can thrive, just as my friend Benjamin did for many years.

Hello, I have 2 blind cats. They are no different in any way from seeing cats, they don’t need any special considerations. They use litterbox without any problems, they find food easily, they don’t crash against furniture or walls as often as people may think. Blind cats don’t know they are blind. That is why (in contrast to human beings) they can live a “normal” life, if you know what I mean.

I have rescued 2 cats, blind from birth and living on the streets of Abu Dhabi, UAE. One is living happily with me in Canada and the other one is living the USA. Both made 16 hour plane rides to their new homes. Both are healthy and loved members of their families. They will learn to use their other senses; ears, nose and their whiskers and feel vibrations through the floor.
Whiskers are specifically tuned sensory equipment that guide a cat through daily functions. These specialized hairs aid vision and help a kitty navigate his environment, providing additional sensory input, much like antennae on insects. A responsible cat owner would know to keep a blind cat indoors. There are many blind kittens that live a full life, example: Homer, the blind black cat of Gwen Cooper. He could even track a fly through the house and leap in the air to catch it in flight. Please let Kelly live a full life with a responsible owner. Give her a chance for life, she will prove you wrong.
